HARLEY VALENTINE

HARLEY VALENTINE

Toronto-based, Harley Valentine (b.1983) is most recognized for his large-scale sculptural installations. Self-trained, Valentine employs state of the art technology to create dynamic forms that explore the concept of portals or passageways, allowing the viewer to gaze and in some cases enter through.

Valentine has exhibited his work across Canada and the United States with numerous public art commissions in prominent locations such as the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts / Daniel Libeskind Tower Residence. Recent works incorporate performance, where choreographed dancers fluid movements travel in and around the hard-edged folds of Valentine’s steel structures.

Valentine’s 12′ tall sculptural work will be featured as a permanent fixture at Wasserman Projects in Eastern Market. This site-specific installation titled “The Dream Machine” invites visitors to engage the work by passing through the sculpture’s opening located prominently at the building’s front entrance.
