SPRING 2020

SPRING 2020

THE FIVE REALMS

DOROTA & STEVE COY

ALSO ON VIEW, ADRIAN WONG: Tiles, Grates, Poles, Rocks, Plants, and Veggies

March 13th – Aug. 15th, 2020.

Wasserman Projects, its staff, and artists are committed to the health and safety of our audience. Given the current situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) we have postponed the opening reception of our Spring 2020 Exhibitions featuring Dorota & Steve Coy’s – The Five Realms, and Adrian Wong’s – Tiles, Grates, Poles, Rocks, Plants, and Veggies. At this time, Wasserman Projects will remain closed to the public until further notice.

Wasserman Projects presents two new Spring exhibitions featuring Detroit-based duo, Dorota and Steve Coy. Their exhibition, The Five Realms, expands on the duo’s well known large-scale public interventions produced under their collaborative project, Hygienic Dress League. The site-specific exhibition at Wasserman Projects is composed of an immersive multi-room installation that leads viewers on a journey through a dystopian future – exploring the human condition, challenging the very nature of reality, and posing possible outcomes of our contemporary society.

Concurrent to The Five Realms, Wasserman Projects is also pleased to present a selection of work by Chicago-based artist, Adrian Wong. The collection of works span the last ten years of his practice and was largely produced in Hong Kong, where he was based until recently. Wong’s sculptural works are influenced by the intersections and overlapping narratives found in urban environments, employing industrial and found materials – densely layered with visual and cultural references.

BENEFIT SALE

In our continued commitment to support our community, Wasserman Projects along with our featured artists, Dorota & Steve Coy (Detroit, MI) and Adrian Wong (Chicago, IL) have donated 10% of all sales from their current exhibition through June 1st, 2020, to Gleaners Food Bank. Gleaners has been serving Southeast Michigan since 1977 – providing our residents with access to sufficient, nutritious food, and related resources. During this critical time, among school and business closures, access to food is more meaningful than ever. We hope you will help us raise awareness and funding to support Gleaners’ important efforts to serve those affected at this time. Proceeds will support the team at Gleaners, who have been working tirelessly to host new drive-up mobile food distribution sites, pack emergency boxes, continue to provide food through School Food Mobiles, and their vast network of partner agencies.

Our current exhibition includes over 100 individual works available for purchase, ranging from $75 – $50,000. Please contact us info@wassermanprojects for a full catalogue or if you have any questions.
