Chris Hyndman, Hannah Knox, Steven + William Ladd, Matt Wedel

FEBRUARY 26 – APRIL 17, 2021
VIRTUAL RECEPTION: FEBRUARY, 27, 4-5PM

A Mark Extended: Matt Wedel, Chris Hyndman, Hannah Knox, Steven + William Ladd

Wasserman Projects is pleased to announce its new winter exhibition “A Mark Extended” opening on February 26, 2021. The exhibition will feature new and recent works by Chicago-based artist Chris Hyndman, London-based artist Hannah Knox, New York-based collaborative Steven & William Ladd, and Ohio-based artist Matt Wedel.

While working in a wide range of media, the works presented are linked by the artists’ intensive processes and the bonds formed by human experience. From Hyndman’s intricately layered paintings to Knox’s extensive exploration of textile patterns to the Ladds’ obsessively textured mixed-media works to Wedel’s defyingly large-scale ceramic sculptures. The artists are connected not only in their process-based approaches, but by their deeply embedded narratives. Whether figurative or abstract, the performative nature of the work is animated through expressive gesture and an unrestrained self-awareness, converging into visual record of a vast psychological landscape that informs how we approach what lies ahead.

Wasserman Projects hosted a virtual reception with the artists on Saturday, February 27th with special guest, violinist, Eliot Heaton. The performance was presented in collaboration with the Michigan Opera Theatre, where Eliot is the concertmaster as well as the Des Moines Metro Opera, and the Saginaw Bay Symphony. He is also an active soloist, chamber musician, teacher, and amateur tennis player. Heaton performed J.S. Bach’s Violin Sonata No. 1 in G minor, BWV 1001.

Wasserman Projects is committed to the continued health and safety of our guests and staff. Strict COVID protocols are in place and we kindly ask you to join us in adhering to the guidelines when visiting. “A Mark Extended” will be on view through April 17th, 2021. Private in-person viewing of the exhibition can be scheduled Wednesday-Saturday by appointment only.

Throughout the run of the exhibition, each of the artists will be releasing limited edition art and design objects available through Wasserman Works.
