Art, Exhibition, Ken Aptekar, Painting, Drawing, Work on paper

Wasserman Projects is pleased to present our Winter Exhibitions and invite you to join us for an opening reception on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 from 5-8pm. Free and open to the public.

Ken Aptekar’s solo exhibition Twenty-Two Carrots features work from a new series which began in 2020 at the onset of the COVID pandemic. The works speak to the artist’s intense desire to communicate something of our rapidly and radically changed lives in a painstakingly slowed down and meditative manner. Through the ancient techniques of medieval and Renaissance illuminators, Aptekar depicts images of contemporary text exchanges and social media posts to give expression—and a dose of humor—to subjects from political frustrations to the lunacy of everyday life.

In conjunction and conversation with Aptekar’s series of Illuminated Manuscripts in the Age of Social Media and Texting, will be a small group show featuring work by Michael Bühler-Rose, Sean Landers, Antoine Roegiers, Esther Shalev-Gerz, Jamie Vasta, and Koen Vanmechelen.

Exhibition will be on view during regular hours Wed-Sat from 12-5pm beginning on January 24th through March 9th, 2024.
